Annie was surrendered to King's County Animal Services by her owners who claimed they were moving and could no longer keep her. She was completely covered in fleas and was having a severe allergic reaction (commonly known as FAD - flea allergy dermatitis). She had lost most of her hair and was covered from nose to tail with scabs. She had stopped eating and was literally skin and bones. She weighed less than 5 pounds at the time. Purebreds Plus got her from the shelter within days of her being surrendered and immediately started life support. Annie had lost the will to live and was completely lethargic and non-responsive. Her two foster moms took turns syringe feeding her every hour for weeks on end. Annie slowly started to put on weight and eventually decided that living wasn't so bad and finally started eating food on her own.
She had been treated topically for fleas immediately upon intake at the shelter but it was several weeks before she was healthy enough to have a bath. When she finally did get to have her spa day, the bath water running over her body turned red from all the bloody scabs. The bath lifted her spirits immensely and she started enjoying her food and actually began to play a bit, what fun to see her play! Since that time, Annie has gained over three and a half pounds! She is now a healthy 8.5 pounds and her coat is filling in and growing out, she is a stunning cat. During her recuperation, it was discovered that she will not tolerate any other cats, she has been through so much we understand her wanting to be the one and only spoiled princess and we are so happy to have found a wonderful adopter that is willing to be Annie's servant for the rest of her life.
