These gorgeous kittens are like little Koi fish swimming in a pond.
Such amazing markings. Mom is a Calico spotted Persian and she
passed on her spots to her little family. They fortunately got the
longer nose of their unknown father and happily will not have the
breathing problems or runny eyes associated with flat faced Persians.
Someone dropped off this family at a shelter when they were 7 weeks
old. I am guessing they felt the had been well socialized and loved
and were ready for the shelter to find them homes. Further I guess
that what they didn't know and the intake worker didn't know or
didn't tell them is that the shelter cannot adopt out kittens that
are not spay/ neutered. These little lightweights had over a month
or more of growing to do before they would be big enough ( 2.1
pounds) to safely undergo the anesthesia of the surgery. The busy,
overwhelmed shelter did not have the space or time to keep them.
Euthanasia, as hard as it is to imagine was coming quickly. Various
animal lovers worried and wanted to help. Nothing jelled. No one
called Purebreds because the word was we were too busy with the
Rescue 911 Hybrid cat situation. At the last minute we were notified
and an email was sent to our fosters " Can anyone take a family of
mom and kittens? NOW.
I said yes. The next morning was to be their last and our
wonderful Shelter Liaison , who drives so many miles ,was at the
shelter as the doors opened.
And what fun !!!!!! look what beauties I got.!!!!!!!
I have gotten to keep them to myself for as long as I can as they
grew fat and healthy. Now they are going this week to get fixed and I
know I must force myself to get them posted and let them go. Three
calico girls and one black and white spotted girl ( part Dalmation
dog ) and a red and white male. They need to go in pairs or to houses
where there is at least one play age kitten/cat for company. They are
very social and happy together, full of fun and affection.
Their mom is Julianne, the calico Persian, you can see her on the
Persian page. She is an absolute treasure and has been a terrific
mom to them. She still is nursing them and I will try to get a photo
of all spotted kittens five piled on her spotted body. It is so cute.
They eat wet and dry and are litterbox perfect.
Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
