HORATIO JONES
3 yo Male Red Tabby Persian/Maine Coon Mix

May update: Three nice children under the age of 5 visited Horatio recently and he wasn't phased at all. He was very friendly and dealt with their young energy with surprising composure. He was even interested and friendly to the 18 month old. He stood on his hind legs and wanted to lick the face of the 5 yr old. Horatio is a FAMILY CAT and need s a nice large family to keep him entertained.

He would probably do better with female cats. His initial behavior with males is variable- sometimes fine, sometimes a little cranky - depends on the cat. The kids in the family have to be careful to keep him inside. He shows no interest at all in the outside at his fosters home so this may be an unnecessary worry.

Second March update: Now that we know Horatio a bit better we want to amend his bio to say that he is a family cat and would love an active home. Middle aged kids would be great. Maybe even well mannered younger kids. Lots of things going on in a happy busy environment would work for him. He will be there watching and helping out. This is the Maine Coon side of him showing.

He needs to be carefully kept inside however. He will probably go out if he is given the chance. A home with a safe cat enclosure would be good too.

March update: Horatio has been showing us what a lovebug he is. He will climb on your lap and rub his head on whatever part of you is nearest. Little lovebites and licks are not out of the question. He will stay put as long as you will have him.

He needs a new home with folks who have lots of lap time. Imagine watching a movie together on a rainy night. Perfect.

We think he would be okey with other cats - maybe one or two - as long as he can get a lot of attention from his human. He is entirely amiable. WE took a shaver to a little matt or two. He counldn't have cared less. Held perfectly still. He loves all attention.

A word from Horatio Jones himself: Can you tell what a HUNK I am? Bet you've never seen a Persian like me! I am 15-16 pounds and not an ounce of fat. I am Built. Solid. Gorgeous. My foster mom calls me a "comfort cat". A big armful of soft, hard cuddly kitty. (The soft part is my fur, the hard part is my buffed muscles).

Being a red tabby, as you all know, I am inevitably a mellow sort of guy. I will be lazy soon but am not there yet. I am playful and curious and will follow you around to help with your chores and probably entertain you nonstop. I notice humans have a hard time not grinning at me when they see me. " OMG!!!! Look at him" I hear that all the time. I am beautiful and very much one of a kind. There is talk in the works that I am going to star in my own TV series. With all my entertaining personality how could I not. Maybe a cartoon strip.

I have a flat Persian face but I am lucky enough to have a real nose. No breathing issues for me. I have the soft Persian fur but not all of the fussy undercoat that is such a nuisance. I am not a wimpy cat. My Foster mom thinks my dad was probably a big handsome Maine Coon and that's where I get my size and solid build and long body and tail. It is a probably where I get my smarts, too. I know Persians are not known for their brains but Maine Coons are and I am pretty savvy. Street savvy too. I have lived much of my life outside on my own. I'd be glad to stay inside but I will also get out if I am able to. Harriet. my foster mom, doesn't want me to go to a home with young kids who will leave the door open.

I was turned into the shelter and they admired me a lot and had fun with me but they thought with my size I would enjoy a bigger room so they let me go to Purebreds. (Let me tell you being big has lots of advantages.)

I love to be petted and flattered and included in all that is going on. You can pick me up and carry me around. I probably would like your dog but that would need to be tested. I have met some I definitely didn't like. Not sure about other cats either. We will have to wait and see.

I eat wet and dry and am litterbox perfect.

My foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
