GINO
5 yo British Shorthair

May 20th update: Gino, quite the man about town, has pretty largely seduced a heretofore cat-hating young beauty named Shirley from the Rare Breeds page. Shirley and he are now cohabitating in a room of their own. They would be willing to be adopted together - they make a very beautiful color co-ordinated pair. Or they could go eparately to the right homes. Gino is a hunk and knows it.

Gino was adopted from us 3-4 years ago. Like many people in today's economy, Gino's daddy lost his job and his home. He and the cats were living in his car until he gave them back to us. This nice boy has handled the move with great aplomb and settled right into his foster home for some fun and games.

Gino is a hoot. He's a playful boy, and a big loving lump of a cat. He has quite the charming personality and also very affectionate. He gets along with dogs although he's not afraid to put them in their place if they get into his personal space. He gets along with most cats and has lived with two female cats. Right now Gino lives at Kitty Hill Resort for Cats and has found some new cat buddies to play with. His foster mom Harriet says: Gino is such an entertaining kitty. His antics and enthusiasm just bring out a smile in everyone. He is a sleek, long bodied, silky grey plush toy. He is not fragile like some Persians—perhaps it is his British Shorthair blood. He has an easy care coat. He likes to watch what is going on and be entertained by all the antics of other creatures in the world. A home that is too quiet would bore him.

Gino has a really exotic look to him. We know the area he came from, and there's a Persian breeder up there that breeds Blue Persians with "old style" faces. There is also a British Shorthair breeder in that area that was using Persians to develop a long haired British Blue. He could actually be a result of those rare out-crossings. Another possibility is that someone crossed a Persian & a Maine Coon together and came up with Gino. He has the size, and the body structure of a Maine Coon, but with a rounder face of the Brit or Persian. He has an easy care coat that doesn't mat up too badly, and his eyes don't have the drainage sometimes found in the more extreme faced Persians.

Gino loves to run, sliding with his furry feet at every corner. He's a good natured, happy companion, curious and absolutely playful. He eats wet and dry food, and uses his litterbox perfectly. Seems to be entirely healthy and full of fun.

He likes attention but on his own terms. He will sit next to you as if posed for a camera shot and watch everything you are doing. Though he will allow himself to be petted he probably will not climb on your lap. He is very involved with his humans but he maintains his independence. An active home with lots going on to watch would suit him well. For example, he would like dogs, respectful teenage children, rabbits, one or two cats and so forth. He finds humans very entertaining and does well with men (his previous owner was male). He would be best in a home with some space and lots of entertainment.

He is staying in the Santa Cruz area.
