CREME DE LA CREME
3-5 yo Selkirk Rex
Creme de la Creme is a charmer. She had lived all of her life in a cage
prior to coming to us, so being out and about has been a wonderful
experience for her. She is very playful and loves socks. She will get a
sock and run around meowing, then she throws it in the air and bats at
it like it's a mouse. She likes other cats, but they have to really like
to play or she can be a tad bit overwhelming. She'll run back and forth
around the house like a maniac at times. We think she's just so happy to
be able to move and play. At other times Creme is a sweet lap cat and
will even enjoy being picked up. Her foster mom can go on and on about
her, so give Kimber a call if you're seriously interested in adopting
this cat.
Creme de la Creme came from a highly recognize cattery when her breeder
had some health issues. She is breeder quality and has had many many
litters of kittens. She had always had skin problems and when we got her
we were told that her coat had never fully come in. Thankfully we found
Animal Dermatology in Rocklin who has helped us get the proper
medications and skin care. Cha Ching! It wasn't cheap, but now Creme has
turned into a darling curly coated Goddess.
Many breeders use Persians in their breeding program to gain the flat
face and long full coat. You can see Creme's Persian heritage in her
eyes. They always have the funky drainage, but like any good Persian
home knows, you just need to wash her face around the eyes once or twice
per day and she'll be fine. Her coat when it grows in is truly amazing.
She gets long dread locks and spiral curls all over her body. We've put
one picture up of the back of her head and neck just so you can see how
she's starting to curl, or "rex", now that her coat is getting better.
Another thing to know about Rex breeds is that they have some waxy
discharge. You'll need to be committed to keeping her ears clean and she
may need to be bathed every month or so.
