AYA
3-5 yo Calico/Torbie Persian

Aya is a Japanese name that means "colorful" or "design". Well, she's both: a colorful design, basically a work of art. When you look at this cat she is so beautiful she takes your breath away. She has a wide open face and huge round copper colored eyes. Her markings are very unusual and her coat is glorious, full and soft. She is a surprisingly easy care Persian. Her coat is easier to maintain than most and her eyes don't need the constant cleaning that many Persians' eyes do.

She warms up quickly to new humans who don't move too suddenly. Let her set the pace and she will be all over you soon. She will arch her back and walk on her tiptoes and rub around your legs. "Are you watching me ? Do you see how cute i am? She is quick to check for a hiding place and equally quick to come right out and ask for more attention. I think she has a huge personality that is just waiting to show. What she needs is a stable loving home in which she confidently feels like the little queen she is. She has had a hard time in her short life.

She loves attention- both cuddling and flattery. She loves high places ( unusual for a persian ) and she loves her wet food. Show her a feather and she plays with with a kitten's fervor. Also she is a social eater and loves to have your company watching and chatting with her while she eats.

Cats like Aya have a very hard time in shelters. She probably wouldn't have made it if not for a wonderful shelter volunteer who championed her and contacted Rescues to find one to save her life.

Aya does well with other cats but would also be fine as an only pet. She needs to go to a home with ( probably) no dogs, no young children, and a fairly quiet environment. I think after half a year in a home of solid love and security and she will show the calico queen's happy confidence that is lurking just below the surface.

She eats wet and dry and is litterbox perfect.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz
